A rooster announcing daybreak. With a thick brush, I painted the chest and wings richly moist, and swept three tail feathers vigorously up toward the heavens. Switching to a fine brush, I added the comb, beak, and eye, and finally set its slender legs treading the earth. As in a Zen painting, I sought spiritual resonance through few lines.
